Tullow Ghana has signed a three-year partnership agreement with the Right to Dream Academy at an annual fee of $ 250,000 to harness talents in the country.
The partnership will see Africa’s leading independent oil company invest in Africa’s leading football academy.
Tullow also seeks to extend the deal to a period of five years as well as contribute towards infrastructural development after the initial period expires.
Speaking at the ceremony, the General Manager of Tullow Ghana Limited, Charles Darku expressed his desire to partner with the academy to help offer talented underprivileged children the opportunity to fulfil their potentials.
He said, ‘‘ We are delighted to support Right to Dream’s vision of offering talented, underprivileged children the opportunity to fulfil their true potential in life through football, education and character development to better their status in society.’’
He noted that, it is part of their social responsibility to contribute their quota to developing sports and football which is the passion of the nation.
‘‘We see development of sports as a key part of providing people with the opportunity and capacity to develop and football is no exception; sport that unites the continent like no other.’’
The Founder and CEO of Right to Dream, Tom Vernon on his part said, ”We are proud to be partnering with Tullow; For fifteen years we have tried and succeeded in making a meaningful contribution to the development of the nation’s youth through education and through Africa’s passion- football.”
According to him Tullow’s ambition to join RtD in making a bigger and bolder contribution moving forward will have a great impact on the lives of many young Ghanaians.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyie expressed their gratitude for the tremendous support.
