The leadership of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has indicated its readiness to face the Afram Plains North Member of Parliament (MP) in court on Monday.
The Afram Plains North MP, Emmanuel Aboagye Didiyie who is contesting the National Organizer position of the NDC sued the party to protest his disqualification from the race.
[contextly_sidebar id=”1tKr7CMD3EnCJ82N5cSvm1HSEtQmu2hD”]He is seeking to place an injunction on the NDC’s December 20 national congress.
But the Director of Communications for the NDC, James Asante who acknowledged receipt of the writ from the court told Citi News that the much anticipated congress to elect new national officers will come on as planned despite the court case against the party.
“As far as the party is concerned, we are of course going to have our congress by any means because we have been ready since the very day that we launched our guideline,” he said.
Mr Asante called on party members to be steadfast and not see the matter as a hindrance but patiently wait for the aftermath of the court ruling.
“We have gone through our branch constituency and regional elections successfully we have also concluded our conferences on the women and the youth. This is the last stage and I think that we are on course and I don’t think that this shouldn’t be a hindrance because it is not an injunction,” he added.
“We live in a country where the rule of law prevails so somehow it will be determined by the decision of the court and am sure that is why they are raising concerns.”
He advised that “any decision by the court we have to abide by it, but I confidently believe that we will go through that and overcome.”
