The Ugandan nanny’s guilty plea for torturing an 18-month old baby has been nullified.
This follows the transfer of her case files from a lower court; City Hall Court to a higher court; Buganda Road Magistrates Court by the State Attorney.
She was expected to be sentenced on Wednesday after admitting to the charges of torture.
Jolly Tumuhiirwe was caught on a secret camera, beating up and kicking an 18-month-old baby and video went viral across the globe.

The 22-year-old maid, Jolly Tumuhiirwe’s lawyer, Ladislaus Rwakafuzi told Ugandan media that the section 4 of Uganda’s Prevention and Prohibition of Torture Act 2012 stated that it is only a higher court that has powers to hear such cases and not a lower court.
This means that the nanny’s guilty plea heard before City Hall Court is now null and void, therefore, a new plea would have to be taken at the Buganda Road Magistrates Court.
The nanny pleaded guilty to the attempted charges of torture at City Hall Court and subsequently pleaded for forgiveness on Monday.
