An aide to Nana Akufo Addo, Mustapha Hamid says Nana Addo’s announcement about his political future on Thursday, March 20 will still be a surprise in spite of the speculations.

According to Mr Hamid majority of the people are only guessing or speculating, ”but until that announcement is made definitely and explicitly, we still don’t know”.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2012 presidential candidate is expected to make announce whether he will contest to be the NPP’s candidate for  the 2016 general elections on his birthday.

Many have said Nana Addo’s actions since his arrival from the United Kingdom indicate that he plans to contest for the party’s ticket.

But speaking on Eyewitness News Mr. Hamid who refused to confirm or deny the speculations said, “we will have to wait for what he [Nana Addo] is going to say.’’

He also outlined that the format of the announcement on Thursday will be in the form of a press conference. “He is going to start talking to the press at exactly 11.00am and we are envisaging that by 15 minutes maximum he would have stated his case for why he wants to run or not to run,’’ Mustapha added.

Nana Addo’s announcement of his political future comes on the back of months of consultation with family members, membership of the NPP, elders of the NPP as well as a personal and sober reflection and consultation with God.

Nana Addo announced on August 29, 2013 he was taking time off politics after losing a petition that challenged the presidential results of the 2012.
