The GN Bank, in collaboration with Spyder Lee Entertainment, has launched the People’s Choice Awards (PCA) Ghana 2015 at a special stakeholder and media event  at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra.

The scheme  seeks to award and celebrate individuals and organisations that have  made significant contributions and  continue to do so  in  various fields to the development of the arts and entertainment business in this country.

It also aims to celebrate some of the unsung heroes in the arts business.

The CEO of Spyder Lee Entertainment, Mr Edwin Edinkrah, stated at the launch that it was necessary to initiate moves which would challenge individuals  to compete on the  globally lucrative arts scene.

The PCA, he added, is meant to encourage players in the arts industry to reach for the highest heights in the world.

The awards night is scheduled to come  on March 21, 2015 at the Accra International Conference Centre. Winners will be decided by 100 per cent  public voting. Accounting firm, Deloitte has been chosen as the event statisticians.

Categories in which awards would be given include People’s Choice Comedian, People’s Choice Child Star, People’s Choice Movie and People’s Choice Celebrity as the ultimate prize.

Special guest at the launch was  Ms Dzifa Gomashie, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. The occasion was spiced with sparkling performances from Noella, Efya and Raquel.

From now till  December 31, the public can nominate their favourite celebrities by sending their names with the prefix CH to short code 1446 using MTN, Vodafone or Airtel.

People are allowed to vote more than once and for the same celebrity or various celebrities.
