The Commissioner of the Commission of Human Rights and administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has expressed disappointment in the decision taken by the Chief Justice to establish a prima facie case against her.

According to Lauretta Vivian Lamptey, a Special Purpose Audit had already been carried out into her accommodation arrangements; therefore, the prima facie case is unwarranted.

According to a 24-page report, the CJ decribed Lauretta Lamptey’s actions as  “… acts of serious misconduct, inappropriate exercise of office, serious misjudgment, breaches of laws and public trust.”

Per the “prima facie case,” the CHRAJ boss is guilty of the accusations after the first investigations, until there is a contrary proof.

But in a statement, the CHRAJ boss indicated her “respect for our constitutional processes and full confidence in both this process and the recently completed Special Purpose Audit into my accommodation arrangements.”

Ms Lamptey however said she is ready to assist with any investigation into the matter which she believes will give her the platform to clear her name.

“I, therefore, welcome the opportunity which such an investigation offers, to present my side of the story in an open and transparent manner, and to clear my name of the accusations which have been leveled at me over the past several weeks in the media and by the petitioners,” she said in the statement.

The President, John Mahama forwarded two petitions submitted at the Presidency to the Chief Justice to investigate and make a determination on the alleged expensive accommodation expenditure of the CHRAJ boss.
