Alhaji Dawood to appear before court today

Alhaji Mohammed Dawood, the man alleged to have aided Nayele Ametefeh to transport cocaine to the UK is expected to appear before a court on Thursday.

State prosecutors are expected to seek his remand while investigations into the case continue.

A source at the Bureau of National Investigations, who disclosed this to the Daily Graphic said three Lebanese arrested in connection with the case have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for possible deportation.

[contextly_sidebar id=”SLGxspriMyHSr5o3HS53A0kTkQ9KTyb8″]The suspects, Abdulla Mustrah, Mourn Taafar and Charbel Nasr were handed over to the GIS after it was discovered that they did not possess the requistite immigration documents to be in Ghana.

A US citizen, Faisal Khadar has also been released after invetstigations revealed that he was lawfully in Ghana on a family visit and had nothing to do with the cocaine scandal.

Another suspect , Paa Kwesi Acquah has however been granted bail but sources say the rest are still in Police custody.

They are Abiel Ashitey Armah, an Assistant Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration; Theophilus Kissi of the Research Department attached to the VIP Lounge at the KIA, and Abubakar Ahmed, a civil servant among others.

Alhaji Mohammed Alamid Dawood was arrested for allegedly aiding Nayele Ametefe and her two friends to use the VIP lounge of the Kotoka International Airport(KIA) in Accra, to transport cocaine.

The suspect, who is also known as Alhaji Sani Dawudat, was arrested at the KIA at about 8: 30 pm last Sunday shortly after he arrived from Lagos. 

Nayele was busted at the Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom after about 12.kg of cocaine was found in her hand luggage. She has pleaded guilty to all charges levelled against her.
