Despite the growing corruption perception among Ghanaians about public institutions and government, the country has improved marginally on the global corruption index.
According to the latest report by Transparency International, Ghana has improved marginally in the last three years.

Ghana is currently ranked 61st out of the 175 countries surveyed across the world.
The Corruption Perceptions Index ranks countries and territories based on how corrupt their public sector is perceived.
The country’s improvement on Transparency International’s ranking comes at a time when the 2014 Afrobarometer survey released on Tuesday showed that Ghanaians are increasingly losing trust in public officials because of corruption.
According to the 2014 Afrobarometer report, the tax department, local government body, the Police, Parliament, ruling party, Electoral Commission, the President, courts of law, and opposition parties do not appear trustworthy to Ghanaians.
89% of Ghanaians rated the Police top in the corruption perception index.

The four least corrupt countries are Denmark (92), New Zealand (91), Finland (89), and Sweden (87), while the US came in 17th — along with Barbados, Hong Kong, and Ireland — with a rating of 74.
