Students of Bolgatanga Senior High School in the Upper East region have been asked to go home following students protest over the death of a colleague on Monday.

The students are accusing their Senior House Master of forcing their colleague, Bawa Emmanuel to jump to  to his death after giving him a hot chase.

In an interview with Citi News, the Public Relations Officer of the Upper East Regional Police Command, ASP Thomas Agbenyo said a five-member committee has been inaugurated to investigate the issue.

He mentioned that the District Chief Executive for Talensi and the Regional Director of Education agreed to temporarily close down the school to allow uninterrupted investigations into the matter.

“As the school has been closed down, the committee will look into the issue so that they can quickly report to the Regional Director and then he will report to the Director General of Education and then they will take an action and recall the students,” he explained.

ASP Thomas Agbenyo gave the assurance that the school is currently calm “and all of them have left and the Police have been put on the ground to make sure that nothing untoward happens.”
