The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kade Constituency, Ofosu Asamoah has emphasized the need for major stakeholders to put in place stringent measures to address the recent spate of armed robbery cases in his constituency.

He contends that the activities of the robbers have greatly affected economic activities in the area, hence his appeal.

[contextly_sidebar id=”eBjILbmL3edyIyWIyAZbsRS2mxqg4eFr”]Mr. Asamoah attributed the situation to a number of setbacks in the constituency, including bad road networks and inadequate logistics for the security operatives to undertake their duties.

“I’ve been informed of recent cases of robbery a couple of them in recent times. Sometime past, it use to be between Asamankase to Akwatia and now we recorded in three in our area,” the MP narrated.

“We also have a problem of communication. Most of these telcos;  MTN, Expresso etc are not very functional in most of these areas so reception is poor and transmission of messages is also poor.”

He however, stated that residents are in touch with the Police to deploy security agencies to address the challenge.

“We are trying to engage some residents and they are in talks with major stakeholders to address the challenge.Residents in the area are in touch with the assembly members to form neighbourhood watchdog committees so that they can provide some form of protection,” he said.

Apart from the Kade Constituency, armed robbery cases are said to be on the increase in the Damongo-Fufulso-Sawla road in the Northern Region.
