The Ashanti Regional Police Command has given a 10-day ultimatum to two Policemen at the Suame Divisional Police to produce four suspected murderers who escaped from police cell last Friday.

The ultimatum began from Friday, November 21, 2014, the very day the suspects escaped from cell.

[contextly_sidebar id=”pfS39MmrPgZdnP2OkaXacEFrG6bwZWCs”]It is believed the suspects had committed murder at the Adankwame area, near Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya District in the Ashanti Region, and were arrested by the Police at Suame in Kumasi.

But a few days after their arrest, they succeeded in escaping from cell, posing a threat to security in the Ashanti Region.

They were to be put before court today, November 28, 2014, but their disappearance has stalled the trial.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ampofo Duku, who confirmed this to the Daily Graphic, said the Regional Police Command had no other option than to ask the policemen who were on duty that day to produce the suspects or face sanctions.

He said disciplinary action would be taken against the policemen if they were unable to produce the suspects on the expiration of the 10-day ultimatum on Monday, December 1, 2014.

Mr Duku said the policemen would be referred to an adjudication officer to try them for conspiracy.
