The much anticipated national delegates’ congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could be postponed again.
The congress which was scheduled to take place in Kumasi on December 13 is likely to be rescheduled to December 20.
[contextly_sidebar id=”VuaLduW2X55vSEJjOgeJ4U7sDAEzM8At”]The congress was originally planned for October 25 but a law suit brought against the leadership of the party by an aggrieved member forced the postponement.
Though sources within the party will not state the reasons behind the rescheduling, Citi News understands that President John Mahama, who is leader of the party may not be available on December 13, hence the decision.
The congress will enable party delegates’ to elect new national executives to lead the party into the 2016 general elections.
Aspirants
Some leading members of the NDC have kick started their campaigns ahead of the national delegates’ congress.
Some of the personalities contesting the Chairmanship slot are; incumbent Chairman, Dr Kwabena Adjei, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, Dan Abodakpi and Kofi Portuphy.
For the National Vice Chairmanship position, former Attorney General, Betty Mould Iddrisu, Danny Annan, Harry Zakour, Alhaji Sinare and Lee Ocran will be contesting.
The incumbent General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is contesting unopposed, at least for now.
For the Deputy General Secretary, Kojo Adu Asare, incumbent George Lawson, Koku Anyidoho and Timothy Awuntirim will be vying for that slot.
The National Organizer slot will be contested by Kofi Adams who is currently a Deputy General Secretary.
