Guinness tops 2014 AGI industry awards

Brewery giant Guinness Ghana Limited beat hundreds of companies to be crowned the Overall Best Industrial company of the year 2014 at the 3rd Ghana Industry Awards held on Saturday.

Guinness swept the most enviable award of the night for its outstanding performance  and contribution to industrialization in Ghana.

Guinness also picked up the top prize in the Food and Beverages Sector.

[contextly_sidebar id=”pk8YbL3zUdF5DemKxMDJuc43MZhDbcWI”]Corporate Relations Director of Guinness Ghana Brewery Ltd Pebra Greenstreet speaking to Citi Business News after receiving the awards said: “I think it’s a recognition of the fact that we are working in the totality of what we do. So it is not very narrow-it is not just corporate social responsibility but the difference we are making with the farmers, our sustainability work in manufacturing, our investments that we continue to invest here even while things are tough, it’s about providing consumers with the right choice, the quality of the brands that we are providing, making Guinness Ghana the best place to work for our employees.”

The other award winners of the night were Nestle Ghana which topped the best practices in sustainable manufacturing category.

Telecom Giant, Airtel won the best corporate social responsibility company while Best Employer of the year went to Unilever Ghana.

Olam took away the fastest growing company of the year award while the Young Enterprise Company went to Techcoms Visions.

  3. Chemicals Sector – Azar Chemicals Industries
  4. Financial Services (Banking)   – Fidelity Bank
  5. Financial Services (Insurance) – Activa International Insurance
  6. Garments & Textiles and Leather Sector – Nallem Clothing
  7. Hospitality & Tourism – Coconut Groove Regency Hotel
  8. Information, Communications & Technology            – Scancom ltd (MTN)
  9. Metals, Building and Construction Sector – B5 Plus Ltd
  10. Oil and Gas Sector – Ghana Oil (GOIL)
  11. Pharmaceuticals Sector – Danadams Pharmaceuticals
  12. Printing, Stationery and Packaging Sector – Type Company
  13. Rubber and Plastics Sector – Interplast ltd
  14. Toiletries & Cosmetics – Choco Industries
  15. Business Promotion & Consultancy Sector – DHL
  16. Wood Processing – Yenok

Special Awards went to three companies: Tullow Ghana in appreciation of support to industry; Ze-Y-Ze Leather Works in recognition of Entrepreneurship; and Groupe Nduom (GN) in appreciation of the support to industry and job creation.

The objective of the Ghana Industry Awards is to recognize, celebrate and reward achievements of businesses and industries that have distinguished themselves over the past year.
