The Fast Track High Court hearing the trial of embattled businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome, has adjourned proceedings to December 12, for judgement on the matter.
The court officially ended its proceedings on Wednesday.
[contextly_sidebar id=”OPPtFrNoDEDPSRWjnxR4lVywBCrC5k6a”]Mr Osafo Buabeng, lawyer for Mr Woyome told the court presided over by Mr Justice Ajet-Nasam that there would be no re-examination of his client.
Mr Woyome is standing trial for defrauding by false pretenses and causing financial loss to the state.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and is on a GH₵ 20 million bail.
Mr Ajet-Nasam, therefore asked the parties involved in the case to apply for the proceedings and also file their addresses.
The judge said, he would give the parties some time to access the court proceedings.
The Supreme Court on July 29, unanimously ordered Alfred Agbesi Woyome to refund Ghc 51.2 million to the state.
“By a unanimous decision of this court, the application for review succeeds and is hereby granted” an order by the Supreme Court stated.
The the court therefore ordered that the “3rd Respondent [Alfred Agbesi Woyome] herein to refund to the Republic of Ghana all sums of money paid to him upon or as a result of the unconstitutional conduct of the 1st Respondent [The Attorney General], therein 1st Defendant in purported pursuance of the said inoperative Agreements dated 26th APril 2006.”
Meanwhile, four months after the ruling, the Attorney-General’s Department yet to retrieve the money from Woyome.
