Northern Regional Organizer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godfred A. Wumbei has called for reconciliation and unity among party members.
According to him, it will be extremely difficult for the party to retain power in 2016 if losers of the various internal contests and their supporters overlook party activities.
He said, “There is a battle ahead of us in 2016 and I want to call for unity in the party for us to see the wayforward, how possible best we can take back all the seats we loss in 2012.”
[contextly_sidebar id=”ndTgW8iGkItRlPlC21E0DziXqn00NC3T”]He described as totally unacceptable the seven seats won by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region at the 2012 general elections.
“We will start operations from now and we will make sure that we move from constituency to constituency to win back the seats we loss in 2012.”
Godfred A. Wumbei admonished NDC youth in the Northern Region to stand firm and support the regional executives to win the entire 31 Parliamentary seats in the region.
He promised to woo the youth of opposition parties in the region to maximize the NDC’s electoral fortunes in 2016.
Godfred A. Wumbei whose results were annulled by the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah was subsequently arrested and detained by the police for reasons yet unknown.
His family relations, supporters and sympathizers who besieged the Tamale Metro Police Command cells lambasted the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru over his arrest.
He was later sworn into office following his three other contenders decision to throw in the towel ahead of a re-run of the regional Organizer election.
Godfred A. Wumbei in a Citi News interview pleaded with his teeming supporters to forget about his incarceration and forge ahead in unity.
