The Ashanti Regional Editor of the Daily Graphic newspaper, Daniel Kenu, who was allegedly assaulted by thugs led by Baffour Gyan, the elder brother of Asamoah Gyan has been dismissed.

Mr. Kenu dragged the Gyan brothers to court after the incident with full support from the Graphic Communication Group Limited, but he surprised his bosses by dropping the case without notifying them, citing health and other personal reasons.

The Ghana Journalists Association and the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) were angered by his action.

The Management of Graphic explained that : “after considering the reports of the Investigative Committee including its findings and recommendations” it took a decision to dismiss Mr. Kenu.

“You acted out of disloyalty by unilaterally withdrawing the case from the court more especially when the incident happened in the course of  your official duty and management had written and assured you of its support and had specifically instructed you to consult it on any move you wanted to take regarding the case, ” the letter stated.

It further noted that Kenu “failed to disclose his”intention to Management before and after he took a personal decision to withdraw the suit from court.
