The defeated Greater Accra Regional Chairman aspirant of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Daniel Amartey has expressed disappointment in events that led to his defeat at the party’s just ended regional congress.
Daniel Amartey lost with 103 votes to incumbent Chairman, Joseph Ade Coker who polled 157 votes in the party’s just ended Greater Accra Regional election.
[contextly_sidebar id=”Lx7MH3m8gcMVbb9rTEwgfrCnAgJmRIIy”]Speaking to Citi News, Daniel Amartey said he lost gallantly even though he suspected foul play and what he described as “vote buying.”
He insisted that “the things that happened on Friday and Saturday were not something anybody should recommend or support because it was too bad.”
Former President John Rawlings had earlier accused the former executives of the party in the Greater Accra Region of unsatisfactory performance since they assumed office.
Mr Amartey contested with three others including Steven Akwetey and Henry Ekow Manly Spain who polled 52 and 22 respectively.
The former President had tipped Stephen Akwetey as the most eligible aspirant among the rest of the aspirants who were contending the position in the region.
The former Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Daniel Amartey further admitted that it was a challenging election process and even though he lost he is still hopeful of another opportunity in the future.
