Some members of Akan Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) say the party in the Volta region would be heading to the path of destruction if one of the aspirants for the position of regional chairmanship John Kwadwo Gyapong is elected.

A nine paged press statement urging delegates not to vote for him,  labelled Mr john Kwadwo Gyapong as a traitor and an autocratic leader.

The leader of the group Mr Godwin Okyere at a press conference  held in Ho on Wednesday, said John Kwadwo Gyapong who was a former Member of Parliament for the Akan Constituency has made  the party unattractive, thus allowing him to lead the entire region would hurt the party’s chances.

[contextly_sidebar id=”27SS3TaKRiR6SE1kY511ZtCsXlu9ezOl”]The group of members of the NDC Party, calling itself  “concerned card bearers of NDC” said after losing the primaries in 2012, Kwadwo Gyapong betrayed the party by siding with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to tarnish the image of the late President John Evans Attah Mills.

The group also said  Gyapong ejected party executives from the constituency office claiming he owned the property.

‘’If we are looking for a personality that lead and unit party sympathizers in the region, Gyapong Kwadwo is nowhere near to perform that task. He has no attributes of a good leader. He will rather split and destroy the unity we are enjoying in the party’’

Meanwhile Citi News contacts with the embattled aspirant assured us his swift reactions to the allegations leveled against him.
