Telecom operator Expresso suffered yet another blow this morning after Airtel cut services to it for failing to pay monies it owes it.
This is the second time within two weeks a telecom operator has cut ties with Expresso for failing to pay monies it owes under the Interconnect Agreement.
Telecom giant MTN on the first of November undertook a similar move over Expresso’s failure to honor its financial obligation to it.
It’s unclear whether the other telecom operators Vodafone, Tigo and Glo will follow suit anytime soon. But MTN earlier told Citi Business News it will only restore services when the debt is cleared.
Meanwhile Kasapa has declined to comment on the matter despite a directive from the National Communications Authority (NCA) asking it to clarify the true state of affairs to its customers.
The NCA earlier advised customers of Expresso to port to other networks as the feud deepens.
In a related development users of Expresso have lashed out at the Telecom operator over the development.
According to them Expresso must, as a matter of agency settle their debts to MTN and any other telecom company to restore services since the disruption is affecting their work and businesses.
“It’s very, very , very bad because someone can call me and say I was calling you and your phone was off. You can’t tell if the person was bringing me money or business.” “I think Kasapa must find ways and means to pay MTN and if the current managers can’t do the job then they should sell the company to bring in more competent hands to make it competitive.” “for me i will not port my number, I won’t do that but rather buy a Sim card from another network which means Kasapa will lose customers which is not good. I will ask that they pay their debt.”
