The elder brother of the murdered DCE for Nkwanta South in the Volta Region, Peter Kojo Kenyeso, has passed away.

Boye Kenyeso died at the St Joseph Hospital in Nkwanta on Saturday evening.

His death follows a recent incident that left his brother dead in the area.

The Nkwanta South DCE met his untimely death when he was shot at close range by unknown assailants at his residence about a week ago.

[contextly_sidebar id=”0IFGNXAkJLtQcnNEAh9Z8LefmJhqbLPt”]Eight persons have already been arrested in connection with the murder of the DCE .

The eight are currently in Police custody and are being interrogated.

There were reports that the DCE was murdered due to his involvement in a land dispute.

“The Police suspect an ethnic dispute and these eight people are from one tribe fighting over the land of Nkwanta. The suspected murderers believe they are the owners of the land and the DCE was meddling in that issue,” Citi News’ Gratham Macintosh said.

The Volta Regional Minister however dismissed the claims and clarified that the DCE was not murdered because of his involvement in a land dispute.

“The DCE wasn’t meddling in any land dispute. If you are the District Chief Executive and land belongs to government and people want to encroach, it’s your responsibility to say that look; this is government land and you cannot encroach,” she maintained.

The cause of death of the 53 year old brother of the DCE is not yet known although there are speculations that it might have been as result of the trauma he had to face from the tragic death of his younger brother .

Sources close to the family who confirmed this to Citi News say the family is in a “trying moment”
