The Police have dispatched the Homicide Squad and Crime Scene Team from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra to Nkwanta South District in the Volta Region, days after the barbaric killing of the DCE for the area, Peter Kenyeso.

The DCE was shot by some unknown assailants at his residence on Monday evening while returning from town.

[contextly_sidebar id=”iAPafmuu6XAY6WzGlXnmI9ugwPhkCPFW”]Eight suspects were subsequently arrested to help the police in their investigations.

The eight according to Citi News’ Volta Regional correspondent, Macintosh Gratham, “are from one tribe fighting over a land at Nkwanta. The suspects believe they are the owners of the land and the DCE was meddling in that issue.”

He said the eight wrote a petition to the Regional Minister a few weeks ago, “calling on the President to remove the DCE from office because he was meddling in land issues.”

But the Volta Regional Minister, Helen Ntoso insists the DCE was not involved in any land dispute.

However, the police in a press release has assureed that they are doing everything possible to get to the bottom of the incident and urged the public, especially the people of Nkwanta South to remain calm and suppport the Police in their investigation with pieces of information when available.

Meanwhile a joint team of the Police and the Military have been deployed to the area to provide security and maintain law and order.
