President John Mahama and his counterpart from Togo, President Faure Gnassigbe will today, Monday, November 3 inaugurate a joint Ghana Togo border post at Noefe in the Volta Region.
This is an initiative by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to reduce the frustrations at the borders and facilitate trade between member states.

Citi News Richard Mensah who is currently at Noefe reported that the inauguration will “have Ghanaian and Togolese Immigration officials at the same post within the same office so that it facilitate easy transaction.”
He said “anyone who is familiar with the border post knows that first you start from your country and to the host country so you are likely to encounter two different kinds of immigration personnel from each other country. So if you are crossing from Ghana into Togo you will have your own checks with the Ghanaian post and then you go and have another check with the Togolese post.”
“This is what Noefe is trying to bring together.”

He explained that after the inauguration, “the practice will not be that you would have to go through a lot of frustration, all has been put together to ensure easy facilitation when it comes to trade, movement of people and all that.”
