Leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western Region has clashed with the Electoral Commission (EC) over alleged irregularities in the just ended voter exhibition exercise.
The party alleged that the EC issued hundreds of voter identification cards in some constituencies in the region but did not inform all interested parties about it.
[contextly_sidebar id=”BQPuBqxtS7M0fhUl9E7dCoxjoqWuRXbP”]In a press statement signed by the regional secretary of the party, Charles Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissiw, the party also accused officials of the Commission of misusing taxpayers’ money, conniving with their people to bloat the voters registers.
“This is appalling to say the least, if this is really the case, then the EC should cause the arrest of these people, since they have broken the law,” the statement said.
Citi News also understands that the party has reported the matter to the regional crime officer .
The NPP has blamed the EC for the low patronage of the exercise in the country saying in a statement that they “believe that the inability of the EC to have properly involved and consulted with all stakeholders accounts for the low levels of public awareness and participation in this important exercise.”
