PLATINUM CORPORATE and Business has officially launched its maiden edition of the Global Business Conference and Awards to promote and highlight the role that Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) play in economic development of the continent.
The event will also be used as a platform to discuss some best practices in the SMEs and the corporate business sector at large, as well as bringing big businesses and SMEs together.
Addressing the launch in Accra yesterday, the Head of Information Technology (IT) of Platinum Corporate & Business, Oko De Gaulle stated that the conference would address the financial, marketing, research & development, governance and innovation needs of SMEs and the corporate world at large.
“The conference will also discuss success stories, best practices and key challenges that face Africa’s Business in the global market,” he said.
Speaking on theme ‘Sustaining Africa’s Business in a Globally Competitive Market,’ Mr. De Gaulle mentioned that the conference would also bring together personalities who have been successful at the highest level to interact with each other for the benefit of all youth who share the vision of platinum.
He added that they were mindful of their corporate social responsibility and called on both the citizens and corporate bodies to rise to the occasion.
“When a nation calls on corporate bodies to support a national cause, it behooves on all citizens and indeed corporate bodies to rise up to the occasion,” he said.
He was of the view that the occasion will further propel and open a bigger platform for people who have great ideas inwardly and were unable to bring them out willingly.
The award is targeted at players in the industrial, trade, and services sectors. There would also be individual awards for the Best New Business Award, Most Innovative Enterprise Award and Young Enterprise Awards.
Moving forward, Mr. De Gaulle mentioned that Platinum business was an institution born for the purpose of establishing a business relation, hence, the reason for establishing a magazine which will offer quality information on all platforms be it print, publication and online advertising.

He disclosed that there would be a multi-channel distribution strategy which would ensure that copies are directly delivered to individual CEOs, HR Directors, Entrepreneurs, HR Managers, Marketing Directors & Heads of Corporate Affairs in Accra, Cape Coast, Kumasi and Takoradi. According to him, subscribers from the different regions in Ghana and all over would have their copies mailed directly to them.
He further called on Ghanaians and other key stakeholders to partner with the organization to support and promote what he termed as “important and unique African event.”
Benjamin Danso, a senior advisor and a board member of Platinum who also represented the municipal chief executive of Ledzokuku-Krowor municipality said many consultations have been put together to ensure that the event becomes a success.
He said the main aim of the event is to ensure that platinum become the top notch hub of businesses in the country and the world at large. The conference is slated for November 5 and 6, 2014.
