1Citi News can confirm that there were only two people in the uncompleted hotel structure that collapsed at Nii Boi Town this dawn.

This is despite earlier reports that some five people were trapped in the building leading to a massive rescue effort currently at the site of the disaster.

The Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organization, the Police Service and other security agencies earlier in the morning rescued one victim and retrieved the lifeless body of the other.

In an exclusive interview with the only surviving victim Alex Kwashie Adamato said, ‘’we don’t know what happened; we were asleep when it happened. We were two in the building when it collapsed and we are carpenters.’’

Meanwhile the Public Relations Officer of the Police Hospital, ASP Juliana Obeng said doctors at the hospital are working round the clock to save his life.

She explained that, “We received two people and they are all males, the first was brought in dead and the second was brought in with some levels of injury.’’

The Police Hospital said they have made available surgeons and other health professionals for the treatment of the victim to make sure he receives the needed medical attention he deserves.

“We hope to admit him for as long as we can, as far as his medical treatment is concerned and then when we can confirm that he is well we can discharge him,’’ ASP Obeng affirmed.
