The Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood has received the petition demanding the removal of the Commissioner of Commission on Human Rights and Adminstrative Justice (CHRAJ), Lauretta Lamptey.

This was confirmed by the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Mr. Frank Annor Dompreh.

[contextly_sidebar id=”q5IYzcn4ypNizvdNtuhjZLuBFuidqwKQ”]President Mahama, early this month, directed the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood to investigate the Commissioner after Mr. Annor Dompreh  submitted a petition for her removal.

The Commissioner was accused of spending about $200,000 on rent alone within three years.

Her action prompted various groups and individuals to call for her dismissal.

Drawing from Article 146, Article 288, Annoh-Dompreh argued that “it is clear and unambiguous and so if there is supposed to be any investigation by the Auditor General, it will still not undermine or discount a petition submitted to the presidency.”

In the petition to the President, the MP Annoh-Dompreh said he hoped the President would forward it to “the appropriate quarters for an action.”

He said Ms Lamptey has “allegedly denigrated the image of the institution she leads and supervises as well as demonstrated gross incompetence and must be investigated, and if found culpable, be made to face the full rigours of the law.”

Apart from the MP, the Progressive Nationalist Forum (PNF) also submitted a petition demanding the impeachment of the Commissioner to the Presidency.

A statement from the PNF signed by its spokesperson, Richard Nyamah stated that the petition which was submitted through their lawyers was to get the President to initiate steps to remove the CHRAJ Boss.
