Medical Doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) have fully implemented the labour unrest declared by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).

Medical Doctors there have laid down their tools in compliance with the GMA’s directive.

As a major health referral facility serving the three regions of the north, patients who went there for medical services on the first day of the strike got stranded.

Though in principle he endorsed the strike, the overstretched Dr. Akambong however appealed to his colleagues to resume work to save lives.

He further called on leadership of the GMA to return to the negotiating table to dialogue with government.

Dr. Akambong said the negative impact of the strike on the TTH was immeasurable because the facility was already understaffed.

Some of the patients blamed government for the striking Doctors action and thus called for quick action to meet their demand.

They nonetheless made a passionate appeal to the striking Doctors to reconsider their decision.
