A Kumasi court has rejected an application for an out of court settlement filed by lawyer of former Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.
The former MP has been charged with causing unlawful harm to one Jamel Agah, whom he accused of stealing his mobile phone.
Agah accused the former MP and six others for physically assaulting him.

Citi News Ashanti Regional Correspondent Hawa Iddrisu who reported from the court on Tuesday said that “the presiding judge, His Lordship William Boampong said the case cannot be settled out of court because it is an assault case.”
She added that after the rejection of the application, Kofi Jumah’s lawyer, Kwame Adom Appiah pleaded with the court for time to finalize the funeral arrangement of Kofi Jumah’s dead mother which has been scheduled for November 8.
She said the court upheld the plea and adjourned to November 14.
Speaking to Citi News, the plaintiff Jamel Agha said he will agree with any ruling the judge gives.
