President Mahama has directed the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Woode to investigate the Commissioner for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Lauretta Lamptey.

The CHRAJ Boss has come under widespread criticism for her decision to spend about $180,000 on rent alone within a space of three years.

Her decision has prompted various groups and individuals to call for her removal.

[contextly_sidebar id=”HmrAh4f9S5YUAZq42UrdsIh4W5tJ9boo”]The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Samuel Annoh Dompreh  initiated moves to impeach the CHRAJ Boss.

Drawing from Article 146, Article 288, Annoh-Dompreh told Citi News that “it is clear and unambiguous and so if there is supposed to be any investigation by the Auditor General, it will still not undermine or discount a petition submitted to the presidency.”

Sources at the Presidency confirmed to Citi News that the President upon his return from his trip to the USA forwarded two petitions to the Chief Justice for action.

The President is also expected to take a decision based on findings by an investigative committee to be formed by the Chief Justice.

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ayikoi Otoo, earlier described calls for the Commissioner of CHRAJ, Lauretta Lamptey to resign as premature.

“Why don’t we take our time to put everything in order? We should not be seen to be engaging in exercises of futility,” he said.
