Nana Ohene Ntow, the spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flag bearer hopeful, Alan Kyeremanten has said that his boss will not stop promising free bicycles and other goodies to party delegates.

Alan Kyeremanten on his campaign tour in Ho in the Volta Region on Wednesday,  promised the delegates bicycles, mobile phones and money if they elect him the flagbearer in the upcoming October 18 congress.

But the move drew widespread condemnation from his opponents and political watchers who say his promises amount to vote buying.

However, Alan Kyeremanten’s spokesperson, Nana Ohene Ntow has rejected the criticisms claiming that his boss should rather be commended for having good intentions for the party because such facilities would make their work easier.

[contextly_sidebar id=”SnoUIO1xda45cugCbFgpP4nEfxnB6EZT”]Speaking on Citi Eye Witness News he insisted that Mr. Kyeremanten’s promise “doesn’t break any law at all.”

He argued that; “this has been part of Alan’s message from day one. These are issues that has to do with the practical operation of the party, indeed in the party’s provigil constitution, it is demanded that whoever wants to stand for any key position ought to show that they have supported the party in the past and that they do have the capacity to support the party in the future.”

He revealed that Alan Kyeremanten has single handedly “provided such bicycles and motorbikes for every single constituency across the country,” in the past.

“It helps party workers to move across the communities, go house to house, village to village and campaign for the party. Party executives on the ground will be more effective in their work of campaigning when they are assisted in the area of transportation,” he added.

But the Campaign Coordinator for Nana Akufo-Addo, Boakye Agyarko also speaking on the same programme ridiculed the campaign promises made by Alan Kyeremanten describing it as “an exercise in futility.”

Alan Kyeremanten, Addai Nimoh and Nana Akufo-Addo are the only three candidates left in the race to compete for the flagbearership slot.
