I’m not soft; leadership isn’t a ‘buga buga’ affair – Kwabena Adjei

The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Kwabena Adjei has rejected criticisms from some members of the party about his “soft” leadership style.

Party rumours say the General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia is rather seen as the Chairman of the party, and has become more powerful.

According to Dr. Adjei, those arguments are baseless, especially when he had steered the affairs of the  party to win two successive elections.

He said this was only possible because of his leadership style and the services he continues to render to the party.

The NDC will soon go to the polls to vote for national executives who will be hoping to steer the affairs of the party to another electoral victory in 2016.

Dr. Kwabena Adjei is facing stiff opposition from Kofi Portuphy, National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, a former General Secretary of NDC and Dan Kwasi Abodakpi, former ambassador to Malaysia and former Member of Parliament for Keta.

While urging delegates to vote for him massively in order to retain his position, Dr Adjei assured, he would continue to give the insightful leadership if given the chance the third time.

“Leadership succeeds as a collective, it fails as a collective. Nobody can go anywhere and say that the leadership has failed when he is part of the collective,” he opined.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has subtly thrown his weight behind Dr Kwabena Adjei.
