Immigration officers at the Elubo border are asking for the right to carry arms law, reviewed in their favour.
This they said, will enable them carry out their duties effectively.
This was revealed when the Interior Minister, Mark Owen Woyongo paid a working visit to the Elubo border on Tuesday, to familiarize himself with agencies under him.

Sector commander at the Elubu Border, Thomas Osei Bonsu informed the Minister of measures they had put in place to prevent victims of the deadly Ebola Virus from sneaking into the country.
He said they were also doing their best to improve revenue collection for the country but complained about smuggling of cocoa ongoing on the Tano River hence requesting for a speed boat to patrol the river to ensure that such illegal activities were brought under control.
Thomas Osei Bonsu again complained about lack of accommodation for staff.
The Sector Minister, Mr Mark Woyongo for his part assured them that they have started a process to have the law establishing the Ghana immigration Service (GIS) reviewed so that they will also be given arms to ensure security at the borders.
He assured them government is doing everything possible to make the work of the Immigration official comfortable.
