The Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) is considering an industrial action or a legal suit against the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and government if they are not paid by October 9.

Last month, the Coalition threatened to use all legitimate means to compel government to release their tier two pension contributions which has delayed for almost five years.

[contextly_sidebar id=”he8lnJ1pUgJcWxEKPSX9YmO8XFL0819r”]They later issued a three-week ultimatum to both SSNIT and the government.

But in an interview with Citi News, the Communications Director of the Coalition, King Ali Awudu said the money has still not been paid.

“We gave an ultimatum of three weeks which would actually expire this Thursday and among the things that we enumerated, included our second tier pension scheme, this government has taken the money for the past four years, getting to five years now and teachers do not have access to the money,” he fumed.

He stated that the leadership of the Coalition will meet on Thursday to take a decision on the way forward.

The decision to either lay down their tools or bring a legal suit against SSNIT and the government will be announced after their meeting on Thursday.
