The former Member of Parliament for Asokwa in the Ashanti region, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has accused Jamal Agah, the man he is alleged to have ordered his bodyguards to assault, of making up the claims against him.

The former Local Government Minister was arrested last Friday by the Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for allegedly directing his bodyguards to assault Mr. Agah who he suspected of stealing his mobile phone.

According to him, there were no signs of the alleged assault on Mr. Agah, who said he had been “attacked with cutlasses and hoes,” despite media reports claiming that the victim “suffered severe bruises and lacerations on his body.”

Mr. Jumah said he was amazed by the accusations from the alleged victim who he says “does not have the capacity to be having access to the media.”

The former Local Government Minister is now expected to report back at the police station on Tuesday after being granted a police enquiry bail.
