Northern Regional Secretariat of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has debunked media reports that some of the party’s serial callers from Tamale have arrived in Accra to intimidate the national Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
According to the regional Secretary, Sule Salifu, an Accra based radio station on Thursday October 2, 2014 reported that some NPP serial callers from Tamale are in Accra to make the administration of Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong ungovernable.
[contextly_sidebar id=”sc2gFcrcgjVdNAc8DwKZ981dfvweEb8Y”]“Our attention has been drawn to the fact that an Accra based radio station, Adom Fm this morning made a very untruthful statement to the effect that the Northern Regional executives have sent some serial callers to Accra to intimidate or harass and make the work of our General Secretary and the national Chairman ungovernable.”
Sule Salifu doubted the authenticity of the said report and challenged the said media house to mention the names of those indentified serial callers if any.
“We want to state here and now that no serial caller from the NPP is in Accra and we challenge Adom Fm to be specific by way of mentioning names of those perceived or those that they think are in Accra and they are from the NPP to worry Mr. Paul Afoko and our General Secretary.”
Sule Salifu condemned attempts by a cross section of the local media to create division among NPP executives and party supporters.
“In fact this morning I cross checked from the communications directorate and all our serial callers are in town indeed well positioned to go on radio this morning to project the good name of this party and to defend the NPP.”
Sule Salifu charged, “They will continue to expose the corruption: the rot and mismanagement of this economy by the John Mahama administration.”
The NPP Northern Regional Scribe reminded Journalists of the basic element of avoiding sensationalism by checking, cross checking and double checking their facts to avoid misleading the general public.
