The National Chairman of the NPP, Mr Paul Afoko, and the General Secretary, Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, will be travelling to the United Kingdom to represent the NPP at this year’s Conservative Party Conference to be held in Birmingham, UK from the 28th – 2nd of October 2014.

While the two will be away for one week, Mr Freddie Blay (1st National Vice Chairman) will act as National Chairman and Mr Sammy Crabbe (2nd National Vice Chairman) will act as General Secretary.

A statement dated September 25th and signed by the General Secretary, Mr Kwabena Agyepong, urged all party members  to co-operate with the acting National Chairman and the acting General Secretary.

Meanwhile, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP met on Wednesday, September 24th, to deliberate on the road map towards the Presidential Primary to be held on October 18th 2014 and other party matters.

The meeting discussed and approved among other things the Steering Committee’s proposals for the setting up of the National Elections Committee to oversee the conduct of the elections.

Membership of this Committee is as follows: Alhaji Bin Salih, Chairman; O. B. Amoah, Vice Chairman; Mathew Opoku Premprah, Member; Mrs Ursula Owusu Akuffo, Member; Mr John Boadu, National Organiser; Madam Otiko Djaba, National Women’s Organiser; Mr Edward Tettey, Acting Director of Finance and Administration, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, Member/Secretary.

According to guidelines agreed upon for the formation of Regional Election Committees, the committees will comprise  chairperson of Regional Council of Elders, one senior female member of the party, regional research and elections officer and a representative of the Regional Executive Committee.

The Constituency Elections Committee shall be made up of: Chairperson of Constituency Council of Elders, one senior female member of the party and constituency research and elections officer.

NEC expressed disquiet about the excessive and intemperate language being used on the airwaves by party members during this internal contest and advised all to abide by the Guidelines for the Presidential Primary as approved by the National Council.

The National Executive Committee urged all to exercise maximum restraint in their utterances in order to preserve the unity and cohesiveness of the party.

With regards to Dispute Resolution, NEC advised all to abide by the provisions of the party’s Constitution regarding dispute resolution and entreated members to exhaust all internal channels of redress.
