As part of its commitment to support health initiatives that transform lives in the country, Vodafone Ghana Foundation has presented a cheque of GHS20.000 to the National Cardiothoracic Centre to support this year’s World Heart Day celebration and surgeries.
Speaking at the media launch ahead of the World Heart Day to be observed on September 29th, 2014, Gayheart Mensah, the Head of External Affairs for Vodafone Ghana, said the Foundation is very passionate about health and is committed to supporting healthcare delivery in Ghana, adding that the Foundation is very excited to be part of the awareness campaign being driven by the Centre.
He explained, since its establishment in 2009, the Foundation has delivered socially relevant and impactful healthcare initiatives to various communities and segments of the Ghanaian society.
In 2013, the Foundation spent a significant amount on key projects which are delivering sustainable benefits to Ghanaians; particularly in the health sector.
“We refurbished the Child and Adult Cancer Wards of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Additionally, Healthfest, our yearlong health initiative, continues to provide free quality healthcare to Ghanaians in the various regions,” he added.
“Vodafone Ghana Foundation has also introduced Healthline 255, Ghana’s first medical call centre, which gives expert medical advice and encourages early diagnosis and treatment. All one has to do is just dial 255 from any Vodafone number or 0505050500 across all networks.”
He concluded that the Foundation is dedicated to advancing healthcare in Ghana and will continue to identify opportunities to support the health sector to transform lives in communities.
