Three leading European coaches have joined the race for the vacant Black Stars coaching job as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) prepares to name a replacement for the sacked Kwesi Appiah.

According to Citi Sports sources, former Coach of Real Madrid, Bernd Schuster and Dutch football great Patrick Kluivert have applied to coach the national team.

The other name in the mix is former Chelsea coach Avram Grant.

Although the three coaches, we understand, are among the final eleven shortlisted for the job, our sources say an appointment will not be made in time for Ghana’s two African Cup qualifiers scheduled for early next month.

It is likely that Maxwell Konadu, who was Kwesi Appiah’s assistant, will take charge of those games.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed that they have parted ways with Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah.

In a statement released by the association, they “have agreed to mutually part ways.”

Appiah and officials of the FA met on Friday morning to reach the agreement on the departure of Mr. Appiah.
