A former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe is urging the state to pursue the assault case meted out by Baffour Gyan against a Graphic reporter.
Daniel Kenu was allegedly assaulted by former Black Stars striker, Baffour Gyan, a day before the team played its opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda.
The reporter subsequently initiated a court action against the former striker but on Friday, Mr Kenu dropped all assault charges against Baffour Gyan, on health and personal grounds.
Earlier, the Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, Ken Ashigbey, vowed to pursue the case to its logical conclusion.
It is unclear whether the Graphic Communications Group Limited would still proceed with the case despite the decision by the reporter.

He added that what happened was a display of arrogance and if the perpetrators are not punished, it leaves a dangerous precedence for this country.
He said “the case is a criminal one and the perpetrators must be punished.”
“Even if the complainant no longer wishes to pursue the matter, I think the State has a vested interest in prosecuting Baffour Gyan and his accomplice. To me this is a criminal case,” he stated.
Dr Tamakloe further stated that “This attack was not an attack on one person, it was an attack on a democratic institution and am talking about the Graphic itself.”
Meanwhile, speaking on the same programme, Lawyer Yaw Oppong, a private legal practitioner indicated that prosecuting an assault case largely depends on the complainant.
He explained; “when an offense is committed against an individual it is the individual who determines whether the case is sent to court or not. There are certain kind of offenses that …the persons involved may be given the opportunity to settle the matter out of court.”
