The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has locked up the offices of Africa Automobile company dealers in Hyundai cars for non-payment of taxes.

The move follows the company’s indebtedness to the revenue authority to the tune of 6 million cedis of value added tax.

The Ghana Revenue Authority indicates this amount accrued over two years.

The latest development is part of a distress action exercise embarked by the GRA today.

The special exercise is aimed at collecting outstanding debts from recalcitrant customers of the service.

As part of the exercise the GRA and personnel from the Police Service will pay unannounced visits to establishments and lock up the premises of defaulting customers.

Meanwhile after several months of tussling the GRA, another defaulter databank asset management today made a  payment of 800,000 cedis out of an amount of 1.6m the GRA indicates it owes.
