The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has appealed to the rank and file of the party to help him unite all feuding factions within the party.

Mr. Afoko and his General Secretary,  Kwabena Agyepong have both been under fire for taking unilateral decisions which according to some members, were not in the best interest of the NPP.

Since his election as party chair, he has had a hard time undertaking his duties due to seeming division between the camps of presidential hopefuls, Nana Akufo-Addo and Alan Kyerematen.

[contextly_sidebar id=”nJAKfBagyJzzxtrxsZ3tYwyBQtpEflaW”]It has been alleged that Afoko is being used as a conduit to promote Kyeremanten’s presidential aspirations while some have even called for the dismissal of Agyepong.

But addressing some representatives from the palace of the Builsa Chief in the Upper East Region, Mr. Afoko asked for support to deliver his duties as the party chairman.

“Please let’s interact. I need your help to do what I have started to do and along the way we can help each other…” he pleaded.

He also pledged his commitment to resolving the impasse between the feuding factions within the NPP saying, “we will resolve all the feuding problems in the party. We have addressed those difficulties.”

Mr. Afoko said the NPP as a political party is currently in transition and will come out strong in order to govern the nation in 2016.

“I want to assure you that we will take notice of what you have said. We are also aware of the effects on the party and its image but this is what happens in almost every transition,” he noted.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Alhaji Osman Alidu said the Builsa community will work with Mr. Afoko.

He said: “We all belong to this very party, however we need unity in the party. All NPP executives should iron out their differences and unite the party, when we see this… we will rally behind the party.”
