The Ghana Police Service has said it will investigate the officer who was secretly filmed begging for money from a driver.
The police officer stopped the driver ostensibly to check his driving documents but he was rather caught on tape requesting for money for supper.
The following ensued between them:
Female passenger [speaking in twi]: We don’t have any money on us…unless we go to the ATM machine.
Police: So how much do you have for my supper? Supper is all I want”
Female Passenger: We can get you ghC5. But even the GHC5…it will be difficult.
Police: So do you want me to tell the boss that you couldn’t get me supper?
The police officer is later seen in the video snatching away folded one Ghana cedi notes from the driver and collected some coins from the female passenger and went away way.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has said the necessary sanctions would be applied on the officer after the outcome of the investigation.
