A financial analyst Sydney Casely-Hayford has described as gross incompetence, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ’s) disinterest in the supposed misappropriation of funds by the World Cup Committee.

Even though President Mahama has set up the Justice Dzamefe Commission to investigate the matter, Casely-Hayford said if CHRAJ was doing its job well, there would be no need for the president to set up the Commission.

Speaking on Citi FM’s News Analysis Programme, The Big Issue, Casely-Hayford described the CHRAJ boss Lauretta Lamptey as incompetent.

[contextly_sidebar id=”WAJxjk53jsiCIpQGp32HO67JmdhDKeAD”]He said, “Lauretta Lamptey as our Commissioner should be sitting in her chair, getting some work done … but we don’t have anybody who is supposed to be fighting for justice in this country. It is not fair, it is not right.”

“She is getting her salary, she should actually get up and do some work. ..I hear there are grounds to file against her as incompetent and we will explore that opportunity,” said Mr. Casley Hayford.

When the chairman of the Grounds, Events and Logistics Sub-committee on the world cup committee, Horace Ankrah, appeared before the commission, he revealed that amounts agreed with caterers to cook food for Black Stars supporters was 34 cedis, but the amounts penciled in official documents was 35  dollars.

Ghana is said to have lost about $215,000 in two weeks because there was a seeming over-payment of about $15,000 a day to caterers alone during Brazil 2014.

Commenting on the revelations, Mr Casley Hayford said CHRAJ should be blamed for the recurring cases of such misappropriation because it has failed to sanction persons indicted in similar cases in the past.

According to him, the CHRAJ boss should take the initiative to fight for Ghanaians.
