Alan Kyeremanten is the only person who can wrestle power from President John Dramani Mahama and the New Democratic Congress (NDC) government in 2016, his campaign team has said.

According to them, Alan Kyerematen’s involvement with the NPP’s grassroot supporters give him an added advantage over the other candidates vying to lead the party in the 2016 presidential election.

The Campaign Manager of Alan Kyeremanten, Kofi Dzamesi,  made this known to Citi News ahead of their campaign launch on Saturday.

The campaign launch is aimed at creating a platform for Alan Kyeremanten to officially express his bid to lead the NPP in  2016  ahead of the party’s final delegates’ congress on October 18.

The former Trade and Industry Minister managed to secure 8 percent of total votes cast at the party’s first congress held to prune the number of aspirants from seven to five.

Kofi Osei Ameyaw and Joe Ghartey has however bowed out of the race despite making it into the next stage of the contest leaving Nana Akufo-Addo, Alan Kyeremanten and Francis Addai-Nimo in the race.

We believe strongly that looking at the track record of Alan Kyeremanten and the way he is so connected to the grassroots. He is the one that the people want. He is the one that the polling station executives are crying for.”

He said Alan Kyeremanten has adopted a strong strategy to approach the delegates ahead of the Congress.

“We want to come out strongly to appeal to them [delegates] and make them understand the way we want to visit them, the way we want to come to them the way we want to appeal to them, let them understand this before we get to them. Its very important. And to showcase our plans of development for the party and Ghana,” he added.

Meanwhile, the team had said they are talks with other aspirants who have dropped out of the race for support. Currently, Osei Ameyaw has thrown his weight behind Nana Addo.
