The Deputy Minister in charge of Pre- tertiary Education, Alex Kyeremeh has warned headteachers’ of second cycle institutions who charge unapproved admission fees to desist from it or face sanctions.
He said they have observed that despite Ministry’s approved fees list, some schools still charge exorbitant fees hence depriving a chunk of students who cannot afford the fees access to education.
The minister said this at the 21st Annual Conference of Directors of Education in Bolgatanga.

This callous act of some of these heads does not support the government’s agenda of providing access to education for all. As much as we urge heads of schools to desist from these attitudes we will appreciate if they abide by the approved fees for 2014/2015 academic year.
Mr Kyeremeh who indicated that the ministry had published the approved fees for the 2014/2015 academic year also added that the ministry will punish any head of school found charging unapproved fees.
“The ministry will not take it lightly with anyone found guilty of this act. We as a ministry will hold the acting Director General responsible and he will in-turn hold the regional and district directors jointly liable for the actions of the heads,” he indicated.
