Kwadwo Opare Hammond, a former Director of Finance and Administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed to the party’s National Council of Elders to immediately resolve the various conflicts and issues raging in the party.

Opare Hammond was relieved of his post for gross disobedience, impropriety in handling of party finances and his involvement in a case of conflict of interest.

Perry Okudzeto, acting Director of Communication of the party was also asked to proceed on leave by the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong within the same period.

Although the NPP’s National chairman, Paul Afoko later sought to clarify the issue in a press conference, some disgruntled party members disrupted the programme resulting in violent clashes.

[contextly_sidebar id=”TfpYMcbkHVGJn6AWzZAsdF5DLA3GT6HC”]However, a report from the Constitutional and Legal Committee of the NPP intercepted by Citi News ordered the reinstatement of Kwadwo Opare Hammond and Perry Okudzeto but Kwabena  Agyepong has rubbished the report.

Speaking on Eye Witness News on Wednesday,  Opare Hammond called on the National Council of Elders to ensure issues are settled before Friday.

“I am calling on the National Council of Elders to as quickly as possible bring the matter to finality…I am just calling on them that they should take up the matter, they should settle the matter as quickly as possible between now and Friday. If they can settle this matter, I will be very glad so that I can have my name cleared,” he intimated.

He later accused Kwabena Agyepong of acting against the party’s constitution despite swearing to undertake his duties in accordance with the NPP constitution.

He said: “He [Kwabena Agyepong] swore an oath that he was going to use the constitution of the party to work. Now he sits there and says that he wouldn’t recognize a national council body like the Constitutional and Legal Committee and their opinion, that is up to him.”

Mr Hammond indicated that he has exhausted all the channels in the party’s constitution to have the issue resolved saying, “I have given time and time again and I am only trying to use the channels that is available to me in the party’s constitution.”

He therefore threatened to drag the party leadership to court if the issue is not resolved within the shortest possible time.

Hammond who insists he is still at post complained saying, “I have tried as someone who is a staunch member of the NPP and loves the party. I have tried since the beginning of this issue, I’ve tried to use the appropriate channels and they have dragged this issue up till now.”
