Regional and Constituency Youth Organizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region have declared their support for Nana Akufo-Addo in the party’s upcoming flag bearer elections in October.

Citi news Upper Eastern correspondent Frederick Awuni reported that “they [NPP Youth Organisers] have unanimously declared their support for Nana Akufo-Addo and have called all delegates to vote overwhelmingly for him come October 18 to lead the party to victory in 2016.”

The youth organizers made the call when Nana Addo visited party executives to thank them for giving him their unflinching support at the just ended super delegates’ congress.

[contextly_sidebar id=”w07CdT52BCHjQ1RlDPBAtg7NZgEOz8yA”]Nana Akufo Addo polled 37 votes in the region while Addai Nimo got 1.

The Super Delegates’ Congress was to shortlist the number of candidates vying to lead the party in the 2016 presidential race from seven to five. The party has however scheduled October 18, 2014 to elect one person from the shortlisted five.

Spokesperson for the youth organizers Ibrahim Bashiru told citi news Nana Akufo-Addo has what it takes to win the 2016 election.

“We wish to state that all the constituency youth organizers and their deputy’s as well as the regional youth organizer and his deputy have unanimously declared their support for Nana Akufo-Addo. Since our main goal as a party is to win power we will appeal to all the delegates to massively vote for Nana Addo. We equally believe that all other aspirants are fine gentlemen capable of leading the party one day to victory. But now we will go all out to every single delegate and appeal to them to listen to the cry of Ghanaians and vote for Nana Addo.

Mr Bashiru however asked Dr Arthur Kennedy to stop his continuous abusive and unwarranted statement about Nana Akufo-Addo or face their wrath.

“He has every right as a member of the party to express his opinion on party issues but that should be devoid hate speech, insult, witch hunting and unsubstantiated allegations. We hope he will take this first step of appeal in good faith otherwise we will advice ourselves.”

Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have also declared their support for Nana Addo.
