A Presidential Hopeful of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo has told Citi News he will maintain the same strategy that won him over 81% of votes during the party’s super delegates congress.

Nana Addo said this on Monday when he was leaving for Wa in the Upper West Region to meet delegates.

[contextly_sidebar id=”djJCUh93nBnW1ZTVHbVd9CYXgMuHFQas”]Speaking to Citi News before his departure, Nana Addo intimated that his strategy would remain largely the same as before the super delegates’ congress.

“Unfortunately because of the time, I will not be able to do what I did in 2010 which is to go to every constituency and meet the people there. The time frame shows that will not be possible and this kind of thing, if you start in some constituencies and you don’t go to others, that is also not a good thing, so I am going to be grouping people together and meet them so I can get my message through,” he said.

He will thank delegates for the overwhelming support on August 31 and solicit their votes again on October 18.

Meanwhile, Nana Addo has arrived in Wa in the Upper West Region where he is beginning his campaign ahead of the October 18 congress.

Citi FM’s Upper West Regional correspondent, Mahama Latif reported that Nana Addo arrived in the region without the usual funfair from party supporters.
The Regional Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakari Abdul Rahaman said they decided not to organise supporters for his arrival because of calls from concerned members of the party that delegates should be neutral .
He said it is to give “fair hearing to all contestants in the upcoming conference.”
Abdul Rahaman also said accidents that characterized Nana Addo’s visits were one of the reasons they disallowed supporters from meeting him.
A few supporters however defied the orders and met Nana Addo at the hotel where he held a closed door meeting with regional executives.
He will also pay a courtesy call on the chief of Wa and some other traditional authorities.

Nana Addo launched his campaign for the 2016 elections in July.

In a speech delivered to party supporters at the launch, Nana Addo, dismissed media reports that he was unfit to contest another election.

“My body is in good shape. My mind remains as sharp as it ever was; the competitive fire still burns in my belly… I am fit and ready and my appetite is keen as ever to go to battle for the cause of the NPP,” he said to the teeming party supporters.
