The Afadzato South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has held its constituency election amidst a heavy security presence.

The elections was initially put on hold after an injunction was filed by some persons challenging the process.

Citi News’ Correspondent, Gratham Mckintosh reported that “the election slated for last week Friday, was put on hold because some aggrieved members [of the NDC] petitioned the Kpando Circuit Court to put an injunction [on the elction] citing an attempt by the regional executive to impose, Frank Afriyie, who works in the flagstaff house on them.”

He also reported that “the court, presided over by His Lordship Justice Rockson Dafeamekpor  ruled that the plaintiff could not provide enough evidence to support their case and that the plaintiff and his lawyer who were conspicuously missing in court abused the judicial process hence the case was struck out.”

The Afadzato South Constituency Secretary Godfred Agbeke speaking to Citi News’ said the case was dismissed by the court because the plaintiff did not observe the proper judicial process.

“The most serious aspect was that the complainant and his lawyer were absent in court. If they knew that the case they have before court is so dear and must be listened to, they should not have absented themselves from court.”

By the close of polls, Mr. Frank Afriyie, by a massive acclamation, emerged winner for the chairmanship position of the the NDC in the Afadzato South Constituency.
