hassanThe Flagbearer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) in the 2012 elections Hassan Ayariga has hinted that he plans to sue the treasurer of the party, David Apasera for defamation.

This follows Apasera’s accusations that the party’s 2012 presidential candidate misappropriated funds meant for the payment of polling agents in the 2012 election.

Speaking to Citi News, the spokesperson for the former flagbearer, David Nibi said the court action is to preserve and protect the reputation of Hassan Ayariga.

According to him, the allegation which was leveled against Mr. Ayariga was untrue explaining that “he [Ayariga] was only the flagbearer of the party and not the chairman or the leader of the party…that is why he is about to go to court.”

Mr. Nibi disclosed that the court action is a means through which the PNC’s 2012 flagbearer intends to clear his name “and to preserve his reputation.”

He also pointed out that party supporters are entitled to know the truth about the matter therefore,” to get to the bottom of it, he would have to go to court for whoever is making the allegation to provide evidence.”
